Our Story

MAULI Foundation was born from a simple yet powerful belief: small acts of kindness can transform lives when nurtured with consistency, compassion, and collective effort. What began in 2015 as an initiative by first-year students of Chhatrapati Shivaji College, Satara, has evolved into a registered Section 8 nonprofit organization committed to driving sustainable social change across Maharashtra.

The journey started with a heartfelt idea—celebrating birthdays not with parties, but with purpose. The young members visited old-age homes, remand homes, and institutions supporting differently-abled children, offering time, essentials, and companionship. This spirit of giving laid the foundation of what would later become the MAULI Foundation.

Over time, the founders realized that while philanthropy addresses immediate needs, it does not always resolve the root causes of inequality. This insight led MAULI toward a deeper, long-term engagement model. Today, the organization blends philanthropy, enabling-community models, and the spirit of social movement to create scalable and sustainable impact.

Our Theory of Change

MAULI believes that when communities are empowered and systems evolve, meaningful change becomes not just possible, but permanent. Our theory of change moves through three stages that build on one another.

1. Immediate Relief & Social Capital Building

Meeting urgent needs while building trust within communities. Celebrating birthdays with purpose created a bank of goodwill and empathy.

2. Long-Term Engagement & Social Change

Shifting from short-term assistance to empowering individuals and families through education, livelihood support, and capacity-building interventions.

3. Systemic Transformation

Advocating for policy-level and institutional reforms so that impact moves beyond one-off charity and inspires a ripple effect in governance and civic infrastructure.

Initiatives Creating Ripples

Cycle of Education

Collects and refurbishes unused bicycles from urban areas and donates them to students who walk more than 3 km daily to school. This simple intervention reduces dropout rates, saves time, and keeps children connected to education. So far, 12 cycles have already changed 12 futures.
